» Job description:This medical centre is based just minutes from Christchurch city centre. Their aim is to provide a first class health care to their patients ensuring it is accessible and affordable. This is an accredited practice by the Royal NZ College of GPs.

It is an established practice encouraging health and education with an emphasis on prevention and the early detection of disease.

This is an 8 GP practice with strong team of nursing and support staff. Opening hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5.30pm and Saturday for walk in emergencies only.


The Position

- Start date asap - as soon as paperwork is complete (approx 3 months)
- 7-8 sessions per week
- Full time equivalent salary approx. $180K NZD
- 24 months initial contract (may be negotiable)
- Saturday am in rotation with other GPs in practice

The Location

Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island of New Zealand set in the beautiful Canterbury Region. A culturally diverse city has amazing outdoor activities, a cosmopolitan lifestyle with food, cafes and great restaurants.

The area allows you to ski, hike, mountain bike, swim, golf and see stunning wildlife all within 2 hours drive of the city! Christchurch has an international airport for easy access to flights back to the UK or to other parts of New Zealand, Australia and Asia.


The Requirements

To be eligible for the position you need to hold 33 months comparable general practice experience from one of the following countries.

This can be spread over 48 months with gaps as long as it totals 33 months within that timeframe.

You also should have worked for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

English Language Requirements

If English is NOT your first language and your primary medical qualification are NOT from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States, Canada or South Africa:

- You need to pass the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) by achieving a minimum of the following within one result:


IELTS required scores:

- Speaking 7.5
- Listening 7.5
- Writing 7.0
- Reading 7.0
